Challenge Workshop: Mathematics for Health Care

Agenda

Discussions at the 1st KoMSO Challenge Workshop on "Mathematics for Health Care" included the needs from life sciences and medicine for novel mathematical technologies. Both representatives from Biomedical research, Medicine and Mathematics talked about the requirements, state of the art and sketch options for bridging the scientific gaps. Presentations and discussions covered the following topics:

  • Bridging -omics to Clinics: The Challenges from Personalized Medicine -- Making Sense from very High Dimensional Data Structures
  • Bridging Bench to Bedside: The Challenges from Translational Medicine -- Integrating Time Scales, Model Reduction and Managing Uncertainty
  • Bridging Data to Networks: The Challenge of Closedness -- Integrating Targeted Models and Stress Response
  • Bridging cells to tissues: the challenges of virtual tissue modeling -- How to Avoid the Deluge of Complexity
